Kids live here too!

For my son’s 3rd birthday, I surprised him with this Jungle Room. He was absolutely obsessed with animals at the time, constantly setting up all his animal figurines to make “buddy parties”, carrying them around with him on his adventures, correcting everyone when they dared call a lemur a monkey or a leopard a cheetah.

His absolute favorite animal was a giraffe. We’d go to the zoo almost weekly to feed the giraffes and he’d chatter our ears off about how special the Rothschild’s giraffe was and did we know that giraffe babies are born at almost 6 feet tall?!

We had just moved into our new home and I wanted to design his room to be special to him, to speak to who he is, and to what makes his heart sing. So off I went on my decorating journey- here’s some TIPS for how I made his Jungle Animal Room that you can recreate for your own kiddos:

– themed bedding/ sheets,

– themed canvas wall prints,

– themed curtains,

– themed rope for some wall texture,

– themed throw rug,

– themed sculptures for above his headboard,

– themed wall decals/ stickers to fill in the visual wall space, including some creeping down from the ceiling,

– and finally the main focal point: a giant life-sized wall decal/ sticker of his favorite part of the theme- GIRAFFE! In case you haven’t discovered the wonders of wall decals/ stickers yet, friends, they are pure magic!

My son loved his room, and to this day, it is one of my absolute favorite rooms in our home. A room that brings so much joy can’t be anything but, right?!
